Students are able to view information about eligibility, track their status and more through their Student Hub.

LOSFA began processing 2017 High School graduates on June 15, 2017; however, more than 10,000 records have to be processed in this first eligibility run of the year. It could take until the end of July before everyone has been completed.

If students have questions after viewing their Student Hub data, the fastest way to receive a response is by emailing: custserv@la.gov

After TOPS eligibility is determined, students will receive an Email notification directing them to their Student Hub account for award details, eligibility letters and any other important information.

Returning eligible students that previously received TOPS will be able to see their award on their LEONET account by July 13, 2017. If you are not able to view the award please, contact the Scholarship office at (985) 549-5116.

The Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance, LOSFA, has determined sufficient funding is available to pay TOPS awards for Summer 2017.

Southeastern will be notified of the award amounts once payment requests have been submitted by all postsecondary institutions.  The billing deadline is June 15, 2017.  Summer TOPS awards will be applied to participating student accounts after funds are received from LOSFA.

TOPS Opportunity, Performance, and Honors (OPH) eligible students who desire to use a term for Summer 2017 should complete the "2017 Summer Session Acknowledgement Form" and return the form to the Financial Aid Office by June 8, 2017

The link to the form can be found at  www.osfa.la.gov/MainSitePDFs/2017_Summer_Session_Payment_Request.pdf

Eligibility requirements for TOPS Opportunity, Performance and Honors (OPH) awards for a student enrolled in an academic program for a summer session are:

  • the student must have earned at least 60 college credit hours before Summer 2017 begins
  • the student must enroll full time in Summer 2017 to be eligible for a TOPS payment

Students who use TOPS to pay for Summer 2017 will have their remaining TOPS eligibility reduced by one semester.  Any hours earned during Summer 2017 can be used to meet the TOPS 24-hour annual requirement.  Also, a student’s TOPS cumulative grade point average will include all grades earned during the summer session, including failing grades.

February 2017

As we all are aware, the State of Louisiana continues to struggle with fiscal challenges that have resulted in multiple changes in funding.  One of these is the 30% cut in the 2016-2017 academic year for the TOPS merit-based scholarship program.

Southeastern students receive one of the largest allocations of TOPS scholarships in Louisiana. Accordingly, we recognize the importance of the TOPS program for our current and future students. We will update current and prospective students when information becomes available.

To be as prepared as possible for the Fall 2017 semester, the following actions are recommended:

  • Complete the 2017-2018 FAFSA
  • Register for fall classes
  • Remain eligible to receive TOPS by maintaining the appropriate GPA and earning the required number of class hours

For additional information, including how to receive TOPS updates via text message, visit the LOSFA website or visit their FAQ page.
